Being able to do what I love for a living is an amazing blessing. The couples and their families become part of my journey and influence what I do the day of the wedding and even how I approach weddings way into the future. When I first chatted with bride to be “K” on the phone about the couple’s quickly approaching nuptials at the Hotel Athenee in NYC , I realized quickly it was going to be a big project. I knew I needed my partner, Vinny for this job and I also knew he had prior commitments. Vinny has been working on promoting his amazing personal projects and book signings and we agreed to take September off. So I begged… I called him and I told him “this couple is really on board with how we approach weddings”…. “you’re not going to want to miss this wedding”.. “this couple is special”…. “I have a good feeling”……A couple hours later I received the text “ok, let’s do this… but this couple better be amazing”…… As we were driving home from K and M’s magical wedding day Vinny said ” I don’t know how you do it, time and time again you find these quality people to work with”. He is totally right. The best piece of advice I ever got about running a better business and becoming a better photographer is just trying to become a better person. We attract what we are. The wedding previous to this one the couple wrote a note to me thanking me for sharing my gift with them. And I had a bride tell me once after her wedding that I must feel so vulnerable all the time, because every time I shoot a wedding and put it out there, you can see the inside of my heart on full display. So true. I really love what I do, but mostly I love the couples who I do it for. I am invested not only in their wedding day but in their marriage. We feel incredibly lucky to document K and M’s first day as husband and wife!
Leave the couple some love at the bottom of this blog! If they get more than 20 comments or 20 shares/or likes via facebook or intagram they will receive a special gift!….
